A humorous review of the covid years
The covid years were indeed not funny. Yet, some situations—from triple masking to hugging through layers of plastic—were so ridiculous, that if we hadn’t shaken our heads in disbelief with a sarcastic grin, we’d have burst out crying.
How would we have survived without humour? We wouldn’t have. Thanks to bits of laughter, a joke or two, a cheerful, uplifting comment, a liberating chuckle, we were able to make it through the madness.
Charlie Chaplin once said, that if arguing with reason doesn’t help, you have to try it with humour.
It’s been five years since the first lockdown. Looking back at that crazy time from a safe distance (pun unintended) feels now easier. But not only that. Time and humour helps to reach those who were lost to the media and government manipulation during the pseudo-pandemic.
A pinch of humour opens the heart in order to reflect on errors and recognise the truth, which is needed, so that the horrors don’t repeat.
