After a strong backlash from the public, PM Andy Burnham promised to scrap plans for a government-issued digital ID which would have costed £1.8bn. Will he keep his promise, or is Digital ID coming to us through the back door? The government has relaunched Digital ID as “voluntary”, based on two government-built systems: Gov.uk One Login and Gov.uk Wallet. Plans for digitalising everything are going ahead. Banks, Big Tech, all gov related institutions and public services are moving step by step in the direction of complete digitalisation. Don’t get forced into a digital trap!
