You need to hear this if you haven’t already. Over one million people in Cairo, Egypt, witnessed the Blessed Virgin Mary appear over a church in 1968. Interesting facts

  • The apparitions occurred at a Coptic Orthodox church in Zeitoun, Cairo. In Egypt there is also the Coptic Catholic Church, in full communion with the Catholic Church.
  • The apparitions lasted from a few minutes up to a few hours.
  • They were witnessed by millions: among the witnesses were Orthodox, Catholics, Protestants, Muslims, Jews and non-religious people from all walks of life, Egyptians and foreigners.
  • At the start of the apparitions, two Muslims noticed a woman on the top of the church and thought she was about to commit suicide. One of them yelled up to her: “Lady, don’t jump!”
  • Many ill people were cured and large numbers of people with no faith converted.
  • Sometimes she also appeared with baby Jesus, the 12-year old Jesus and Joseph, her spouse.
  • In an investigation to prove the authenticity of the apparitions, the authorities investigated a fifteen-mile radius for electronic devices and cut all power off in the area to create a blackout, yet Mary continued to appear.
  • Father Dr. Henry Ayrout, rector of the Catholic College in Cairo said about Mary: “… we are all Her children and She loves us all equally. Her apparitions at the Zeitoun Coptic Orthodox Church confirmed this notion.”
  • Zeitoun is one of the locations where the Holy Family supposedly stopped on their flight to Egypt.
