White Rose Advent Competition: ‘Why I Use Cash’

In the few weeks before Christmas, traditionally known as Advent (the time of awaiting), people do the most shopping, spend the most money and businesses make the highest profits of the year.

Advent is also a good opportunity to use cash when shopping Christmas gifts, and to make others aware of the importance of keeping cash alive.

… and this is where your writing skills come into play!

The White Rose Advent Competition

Write a list of reasons why you are using cash. The list should be apt, easy to read, easy to understand.

We will select the three best lists and turn them into pintable leaflets.

These leaflets, in the size of post cards, will be available for everyone to print out and to give to shopkeepers at the till, other customers, friends and family.

How to take part
  • Make a draft with up to ten reasons why it’s important to use cash.
  • Edit your text until it can’t get any better.
  • Give your list a catchy title.
  • No need for any special formatting (we will do all of that).
  • No need to add an author name – we will mention the White Rose at the bottom if people want to find out more.
  • Want to find out why it’s important to keep cash alive and not succumb to digitally controlled financing? Read articles about cash here.
Win

The three winners will each receive a small White Rose metal badge as a prize, or alternatively the winner can choose a White Rose T-shirt (available are: 1 white T-shirt size M; 2 black T-shirts, size XXL)

Conditions

  • By entering your text, you agree to these conditions.
